There are horses who are born with quiet dignity, and then there are horses who earn it. Summer Sunflower Fields—a Quarter Horse mare with a freckled blaze as unique as her spirit—is the latter.

When Summer first arrived at Bearfoot Ranch Horse Rescue, her situation was dire. Surrendered by owners who couldn't understand why she remained desperately thin despite their care, she carried more than just sadness in her eyes—she carried parasites, severe rain rot, and a body weakened by neglect.

What followed was nothing short of a vigil. For three months, Summer lived in quarantine. A dedicated team of volunteers spent countless hours medicating her rain rot, deworming her system, and slowly helping her regain not just weight—but trust. She was fragile but never broken. Resilient even on her hardest days.

And then… she bloomed.

Today, Summer isn't just surviving—she's thriving. She's become a part of the special needs therapy program at Bearfoot Ranch Equine Therapy and Horse Rescue, offering children a gentle, understanding friend who knows what it means to overcome. When she's not nuzzling the hand of a young visitor, she's roaming the open pastures she so richly deserves—a living testament to second chances.

It's in honor of Summer's profound transformation that we crafted Summer's Second Bloom—a single-origin Colombian medium roast as warm, balanced, and full of heart as she is.
